Virtus Dynamic Weight Distribution System (DWD)

The Dynamic Weight Distribution (DWD) system by the Israeli company Source Tactical is part of the modern British Army Virtus equipment system. The DWD system uses a patented telescopic Flexi Spine Bar that acts as a second spine. DWD allows weight to be dynamically transferred between the shoulders and the hip belt, reducing the load on the back and significantly improving the soldier's performance and agility. The spine bar extends via a ratchet locking mechanism operated with one hand using the control unit. On the move, the load's weight can be shifted with a simple press of a button from 100% on the shoulders back to 100% on the hips, and any combination in between.

The DWD exoskeleton inserts into the Virtus combat belt and can be used with:

• Virtus Scalable Tactical Vest (STV) body armour
• Virtus Bergan Rucksack 90L
• Virtus Bergen Rucksack GU 90L
• Virtus Bergen Rucksack MK3 90L
• Virtus Daysack 40L
