Coolmax

COOLMAX® fabric is a technical fabric that wicks moisture away efficiently thanks to temperature differences. Moisture released by the skin is not absorbed by Coolmax; instead it moves, evaporating, from one air cavity to the next. Once it reaches the outer layer, it evaporates completely. For maximum effect, the material must fit closely against the skin. Being a polyester, it is moderately hydrophobic, so it absorbs little liquid and dries relatively quickly (compared with absorbent fibres such as cotton).

As it evaporates, moisture absorbs the heat required to change from a liquid to a gaseous state. The surface of the material cools slightly as a result, preventing the skin from overheating. This is why Coolmax T-shirts are so popular — they make hot weather much easier to bear.
