Personal Clothing System (PCS) is the British individual clothing system, an analogue of the American multi-layer "ECWCS" system. PCS was created to replace the previous-generation Combat Soldier 95 (CS95) clothing set, introducing a number of improvements:

• Modern materials that maximise retention of body heat at a lower material weight.
• Improved temperature control and its regulation through the use of new materials and technologies.
• Better and more comfortable use of the clothing together with body armour.
• Faster access through partially doing away with buttons.
• Better and more compact storage of outer garments using integrated stuff sacks.

Infrared Reflective Remission (IRR) is a technology that reduces the user's visual signature so that they resemble the surrounding environment when viewed through night vision devices. IRR technology works by creating visual interference caused by multi-layer infrared reflections for each colour in the image, which has a specific reflection wavelength to blend with the colours in the infrared spectrum. As a result, the user's visibility at night is significantly reduced thanks to a reflectivity that mimics the same wavelength as snow, rocks, various urban buildings, trees and other green vegetation.
